Steve Lowenstein

It was announced this weekend that Steve Lowenstein, owner of Mercury Marketing, and publisher of The Collector’s Advantage, died this weekend after battling leukemia for most of the year. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two small children.

I am very saddened to hear this news. I got to meet Steve, Lisa and Zachary at the Albany show in 1996 (and then later that year in Anaheim) - Steve was the driving force behind a collector/dealer association, which became IPC. He certainly had a way of convincing people about his plans.

I will never forget watching him at the show scratch off the PIN's off of his expired cards he produced for Mercury Marketing, because he though expired (but not scratched) cards that would come on the market for

less should not penalize his customers who bought at the original price. If you look through my collection, most Mercury cards I have are used with the PIN

scratched off.

We will miss you, Steve.
