New Zealand Phonecard News

By David Levin (jdlholdings@fpnet.co.nz)

The latest phonecard releases from Telecom are:

CHIP TRIAL CARDS:

This week, Telecom New Zealand started trials of the new chip phonecards.

All done with great secrecy, one trial spot is the Devonport Naval Base in

Auckland. This area is closed to the public, so the chance of getting used

cards is minimal. Two cards of $5 and $10 denominations have been released.

FRIENDS OF MICKEY MOUSE PART 4 - HUEY, DEWEY & LOUIE:

They first appeared in 1937, when Donald's sister Della sent her 3 playful

sons to stay. Only 750 sets of this 5 card set were issued showing the

nephews getting up to their usual mischief.

PEANUTS PART 3:

This phonecard series began with the much anticipated release of Charlie

Brown to rapturous applause throughout collector markets late last year.

With the release of part three featuring Snoopy, this series is now

complete. Only 800 sets were issued.

KIWIANA:

Celebrating the past and the last with Kiwiana - cards featuring typical

New Zealand icons - fish and chips and tomato sauce, gumboots and Kiwi boot

polish, jandals and paua, Marmite and Anchor butter. This is the last

magnetic strip general issue set.

WINNIE THE POOH PART 2:

This long awaited set is in production now, with a delayed release date of

late June.

ITA Update

From: Howard Segermark

The ITA, lobbying on behalf of the repeal of the Telecom Federal Excise Tax

on telecommunications, has entered into an agreement with USALetters.com which

is hosting a letter people can send to their Representatives and Senators urging Congress

to support the Miller/McCain bills to repeal the FET.

To promote our cause, we offer a 20-unit phonecard to folks to send us a copy of a letter

they get from Congress. Such a premium offer will, I believe, encourage other grass-roots

advocacy groups to use phonecards as well as encourage people to write to Congress on the FET. Note, that under the option "Repeal the Federal Excise Tax on Telecommunications" is "Get a free Phonecard By Writing Congress."

In a subsequent page, we explain that someone will get a free phonecard he emails, faxes or mails a copy of a letter the get from a Congressman or Senator. We will promote ITA and the donor’s cards with a one-pager that goes out with them. The advantage, of course, is that we can inform Congressman Miller and Senator McCain of how others in Congress are responding; and inform other repeal advocates where folks stand on the bill. ITA is also promoting this lobbying effort and promoting phonecards by providing one of

the cards to approximately 500 national associations and advocacy groups.

SHCC to Focus on Central and South America For Initial Market for Prepaid Calling Card Division

--SHCC Branching into Internet Telephony as the Company Expands its Calling Card Division--

KIRKLAND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1999-- Saratoga International Holdings, Corp. (OTC BB:SHCC) has released additional information concerning the operation of its recently acquired telecom operation through its wholly owned subsidiary, Saratoga Telecom Corp.

The Telecom industry and the purchase of the Telecom division of Internet Interview, Inc. which was closed last week, represents a major opportunity for the company. The company initially plans to market pre-paid long distance cards over the Internet to Spanish speaking countries.

The company's operation within the pre-paid long distance telephone card arena will be the foundation from which SHCC will launch its Internet based business. The company is planning to concentrate on building by acquisition and by increase in market share within the Telecom sector of e-commerce. The Internet offers a multitude of commercial venture opportunities

that have relatively low cost entry and huge upside potential.

SHCC's association with major telecom industry companies lends credibility to SHCC's entry into the e-commerce field. The company plans to offer its products and services to Central and South America initially with expansion to Europe and the Pacific to follow.

The company is pursuing selling other products on the net. Included is the selling of phone-to-phone service over the net. Negotiations are currently underway with several providers of telecom products and services. Industry analysts forecast that in two to three years telephony over the Internet will be the medium of choice for the movement of voice and data. At a

fraction of today's prices Internet phone usage is expected to explode. Several companies have such products available or under development. SHCC is of the opinion that the company would be ideally positioned to sell these exciting new services. More details will be published, as they become available.
