Subject: A Great Michael Jordan Offer One of the first and most attractive Michael Jordan Cards was issued in late 1994 by Phame PhoneNet. This is the only card issued by them that made the catalog. Maybe the only card. The 23-Minute telecard was originally sold for $23 I believe, and because of the relatively high price, few were bought by collectors. Rather, they were sold to basketball audiences, I believe, at the games through concession stands.

The card is very attractive and shows Michael Jordan in business suit. Very nice! The occasion was the retirement of the famous #23 basketball jersey and the date was November 1, 1994. The card comes in a nice window envelope and is serial numbered.

And the price? Not $23.00, but just $8.00. Good things come to he who waits! And if you have the need for more of Michael, 10 cards are $60.00. The time has expired.

Sprint Coca Cola $5 Calendar Girl Set of Five Cards issued in 1996 available from Powell Associates $13.00 per set plus $3.20 for shipping. Phonetime is expired, and the cards are in mint unused condition.

In 1996 Scoreboard Inc. issued its second series of Coca Cola phonecards. They were included in retail packs of Coke-Cel cards. The $5 cards featured five different Coca Cola Calendar Girls covering the years 1907, 1913, 1924, 1925 and 1927. This is possibly one of the most attractive sets produced with original Coca Cola art from the Coca Cola archives.

This set catalogs for $85.00 and are listed under # US-SPR-29.2(a,b,c,d,and e). in the 1996 First Edition of the Coca Cola Phone Card Catalog by Ilonka Giesen.

These and many other rare and interesting telephone cards are available from our extensive inventory by mail order (send for free catalog). Powell Associates has been in business and dealing in collectible phonecards since 1992. We recently moved our offices from Manhattan to Morganville, New Jersey. All major credit cards are accepted.

NEWS / COMMENTARIES

Publication Announcement

The following was announced by Bruce Harmon, ACME Telecards

Since the demise of Moneycard Collector magazine a couple of months ago there has been a lot of talk about needing somekind of print publication to take Moneycard Collectors place. After numerous discussions with a few people I am pleased to announce that together with Randy Moser (General Manager of InteleCard News), he and I will be starting a Collector/hobby section in InteleCard News every month! The section may only start out with a page or two but will be given a monthly shot possibly as early as the March issue and no later than the April issue.

InteleCard News is a glossy monthly industry magazine which is also the owner of the InteleCard News Expo which happen twice a year in South Florida. Randy Moser was the original Editor of Moneycard Collector and alot of you already know who he is and he's always been a champion for phonecard collectors. After a few discussions with him we decided to give this a shot to try and make this work. We are already very excited about the section and already have a story done for the kickoff of the section.

Subscriptions cost $39 for 12 issues of InteleCard News. If anyone is interested in receiving a SAMPLE issue, please contact Cynthia Leonard at 281-298-1431 extension 101. In the January issue there is already a story on some of the more popular current cards so you may want to request that issue.

Dealer advertising rates haven't actually been decided yet however any dealers who may have an interest in advertising please contact Randy Moser at 281-298-1431 extension 119.

New Zealand Phonecard News

By: David Levin (jdlholdings@fpnet.co.nz)

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM TELECOM NEW ZEALAND:
Telecom New Zealand will introduce chip phonecards starting from July this year. The current payphones are not year 2000 compliant and the equipment has reached the end of it's working life. Spare parts are also now difficult to get. The new chip card technology is cheaper and will allow the introduction of another 1500 phone booths. Also, the new technology can be used to offer a number of new features such as modem ports for connecting a computer to internet access.

COMMENT ON THE NEW ZEALAND MARKET:
The popularity of the All Blacks general issue cards has persuaded Telecom the hold back the Birds series until into the new year. It has also been noticed that some of the All Black cards are printed on matt cards, eliminating a lot of the scratches which shows on the normal high gloss used cards.

The latest phonecard releases from Telecom are:

WONDERS OF THE WORLD:
A phonecard produced by the Telecom Education Foundation as a fund-raiser for schools. 10,000 cards were produced showing artwork from school pupil Erica Pauli.

DONALD DUCK PART 4:
Titled "Around the Home", this 3 card set shows Donald taking on everyday life tasks, which inevitably turn to disaster. Only 750 sets are being produced, of which 250 are loose, the remainder sold in presentation packs.

STARS OF THE SILVER SCREEN PART 3:
The next set in this much sort after series. Two $10 cards showing Mickey Mouse on one and Donald Duck on the other, posing in two breathtaking water-colour portraits. Part 1 is now difficult to obtain. With only 800 of each released in part 3, stock won't last long.

CLASSIC CARS:
New Zealand cars, until recently, were very expensive compared to most other parts of the world. Therefore, New Zealanders treasured their cars, carefully maintaining them over the years. This 2 card presentation folder of only 600 issues celebrates these older cars. Featured are the Mark 1 Ford Zephyr and Morris Minor.

PRESS RELEASES

FCC Drops Pay Phone Call Surcharge For Owners

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The fee added to calling card and toll-free telephone calls made at pay phones will drop to 24 cents from 28 cents, the Federal Communications Commission said Thursday.

The agency lowered the fee paid to pay phone owners after a federal court rejected the method the FCC had been using to calculate the higher rate.

The 1996 Telecommunications Act required that the agency establish a per-call rate compensating pay phone owners for toll-free and calling card calls.
