Washington D. C. Meeting Notes

By: Del Deligianis

Susan invited Bernard A Mizelle to our meeting after he contacted her based on an internet search. We shared MoneyCard Magazine and the MoneyCard Catalog with him as well as a variety of cards we picked up here and there. I also recommended he buy the catalog from Steve Eyer and that he contact Art Becker for a subscription to the Telephone and Debit Card Journal. Art can be reached at 72072.2713@Compuserve.com or visit his web page at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/artbecker. The site is

guarded by Warren the Wonder Dog.

I also informed people of the next Alan Cohen auction to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. Alan does a terrific job getting quality cards which he offers and delivers for a good cause.

Richard had show cards from the New York show to share. He and Coral arrived just as I was beginning to wonder if anyone was coming (about 7:10) He also shared some of the loot he and I gathered at the Defending Cyberspace '98 conference in DC. It was a small show, but had a few most interesting cash cards and two different VISA cash readers.

Susan left Tom home nursing an infection. She missed both shows due to job interviews. Richard reminded me that I neglected to send out a reminder to members about the date of this meeting. I did post a notice on rec.collecting.phonecards but I've been busy looking for a replacement for my totaled Mini-van --moment of silence. Next time I'll try to remember to remind folks.

I showed off the cards my wife acquired for me during her trip in Germany and some cards I won in one of John Monzo's auctions. Look for his auctions online. He's a nice fellow to do business with. One day we may even convince him to ride down from Philadelphia for one of our meetings.

The next two meeting dates were established.

Wednesday, November 18th

Wednesday, January 13th

Thanks to Ulf Helmke for contributing the following about last week’s press release about the first Euro Phonecard.

While it is the first phonecard in Euro, it certainly is not the first card to use a UIFN (Universal International Freephone Numbers) TeleDanmark issued a 10 KR phonecard early this summer (May or June) with the Danish National soccer team that uses UIFN. VoCall Pioneers the Prepaid Instant Pager

Prepaid Phone Card Pioneer is First to Market Again

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1999--VoCall Communications Corp.,

the nation's prepaid, phone card pioneer, recently unveiled their much anticipated Instant Pager(SM) product.

``Already we are hearing raves about it from retailers,'' says VoCall C.EO. Gary Frank. ``The Instant Pager(SM) is perfect

for every retail outlet in the country, from corner stores to college stores to gas stations.''

How does it work? A person buys a high-end Motorola Instant Pager(SM) at a local store for $59 which includes an Instant

Pager(SM) Monthly Service Card good for one month of free service and a complimentary $5 Instant Calling Card. All the

consumer has to do to activate the pager is dial the 800-number on the card to reach a VoCall Service Representative, who

will in turn assign a local access phone number to the consumer.

When the month of pager time expires, the user can then purchase an Instant Pager(SM) Monthly Service Card at any store or

by calling the VoCall 800-number directly:

-- $24.95- 3 months of paging service and a $5 Instant Calling Card (ICC)

-- $45.95- 6 months of service and a $10 ICC

-- $79.95- 12 months of service and a $20 ICC

``I see this as a perfect tool for everyone- parents, business travelers, anyone.'' says Frank. ``It's a quick, easy purchase.

It's trouble free, inexpensive and a perfect last-minute gift.''

The Instant Pager(SM) allows a person to purchase a beeper without having a good credit background or making a long-term

commitment. Additionally, the buyer can now avoid the hassle of going to an electronic store or waiting 20 minutes or more to

have their pager activated. VoCall's Instant Activation Service allows a customer to activate their pager instantly by simply

calling the company's 24-hour Customer Service Department and providing the pager's unique cap code.

``The Instant Pager(SM) is going to revolutionize the way pagers are sold,'' says Frank.
