Captain Munchies Phonecard Swap Meet
Lionel Richards, AKA Captain Munchies, will be holding a phonecard swap meet in Freemantle, Western Australia at the end of the month. For those who live too far from Australia and want to get a feel of an international phonecard event, don’t despair! Terminals will be set up at the event, and anyone with internet/web access can virtually visit the show. The event is set to take place on Saturday, September 28 from 10 AM to 4 PM, Western Australian time. For those on Pacific Daylight Time, this means the event will take place on Friday, September 27 from 7 PM until 1 AM. I will be on-line chatting, so join me and everyone around the world. Simply visit The Card Mall at http://www.cardmall.com, and click on the chat room listing. You can contact Lionel Richards at captain@munchies.com.au for further information
Dodger Stadium Phonecard
This weekend I happened to visit Dodger Stadium to see a game, and discovered a phonecard available at the stadium. It is free with the purchase of $30 worth of Dodger goods. The card is white with a 35th anniversary Dodgers logo. There is 5 minutes worth of calling time on the card, and it is provided by MCI. There was not an end date listed for this promotion, but it appears to only be available at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers Web Site (For those who may want to check on-line) is http://www.dodgers.com
Building a used collection
Here is a tip from Dealer/Collector Dave Gilroy of Moonlight CommCepts.
"There is a practice I use when doing business. It works as an
incentive for the customer and helps me to build (slowly) a collection of
used cards. When I sale a card, I usually offer to by the card back once the
time has been used. I have managed to start building a small inventory of
used cards this way."
Not a bad idea - It allows the dealer to build a used collection to sell, and allows the buyer to realize there is a value to used cards, which may in turn get them to collect.
Disney Correction
Last week it was reported that there were 30,000 employee Disney Phonecards produced. Steve Schwartz of Sears Phonecard Dept. reports that there actually were only 15,000 produced.

Rosie Sherman of Las Vegas Telecards is promoting two new phonecards. The second is a Christian Riese Lassen collectible phonecard (Also pictured on-line, and quite beautiful) for $16. Rosie can be reached at (702) 293-2866.
