The Show

The time is here for the B&B show that many collectors have been anxiously awaiting for. This show will include sport cards, phone cards, and other collectibles. It will be held at the Disneyland Hotel Friday-Sunday August 23-25. If you are even close to driving distance to Southern California, you will definitely want to make plans to come and join everyone there. I will be there, actively promoting The Card Mall as well as other internet ventures including this newsletter. Stop by, say hello and introduce yourself. I will also be handing out free phonecards (used, of course) to promote the hobby.

Main Street Marketing No More

According to Bill Rotz of Main Street Marketing, they are officially out of the phonecard business. They have produced sports oriented cards such as Monday Night Football, as well as AHL, IHL, and CBA league team cards. After hearing the news, I tried to use one of the cards, and it still works. (This is very good news) The card I used expired 12/31/96. Many of the Main Street Marketing cards were low print runs of 1,000 and 2,000 cards. It’s refreshing to see a company that leaves the business but still keeps their cards active.

Gazelle / Alaska Airlines Card

Gazelle Telecard of Seattle, Washington recently produced its first phonecard in conjunction with Alaska Airlines. The card was produced to be included in mailings promoting vacation destinations served by Alaska Airlines. 10,000 were produced, and the phone time carrier is Ideal Dial of Denver Colorado. Each card is good for 20 domestic minutes, quite generous for a giveaway. You can contact Vince Porteous of Gazelle at (206) 329-9780. For those wanting to learn more about Gazelle Telecard, there will be an article in the October issue of Premier Telecard Magazine. A graphic of their first card (quite nice in my opinion) is available at the POL website.

ree Lodgenet card

I spent the night at a Holiday Inn and when I entered my room I was greeted by The August Movie guide for LodgeNet. On the back of the guide was my invitation to watch The Arrival and get a FREE LodgeNet Phone Card. All I had to do was get the movie and answer the question. "In THE ARRIVAL, Zane travels to what country to investigate the radio station?" (The answer is Mexico, by the way) Call 1-800-213-0343 and answer the question. Offer expires 8/31/96. Limit 1 phone card per address, please, while quantities last. The card is purple and black with a satellite dish reminding one and all of the strange discovery Zane made.

That's it for now. (I know it is a short newsletter but the show starts tomorrow!) Until Next Week, when I will provide a complete overview of the show, goodbye.
